Peter Wynne Davies
Peter has been active in the written media and broadcasting since graduation from Oxford University. He pursues an holistic approach to communications and believes that effective communication depends on a deep understanding of socio-political, business and global issues. He specialises in analyzing what companies wish to achieve and creating communications programmes that help them bridge business strategy and achieve external, commercial success. He continues to develop new models for communication in a changing global environment of technology, security issues and societal change.
He has an extensive track record of senior management of communications work in varied sectors such as telecommunications, IT, broadcasting and biotechnology. His corporate experience was gained in public affairs for BT, then as head of corporate relations for The Post Office, Britain’s two largest private and public sector organisations. An early adopter of issue and audience management techniques, he created and implemented business and public affairs strategies in the UK, in the EU and its member states, and with associates in the USA, India and the Far East.
Macdonald Wynne Davies provided consultancy services for six years for the global agricultural trade association CropLife International. The management and direction of Agricultural Biotechnology Europe, a European communications programme, was funded by a number of international blue chip companies on issues surrounding agricultural biotechnology and its benefits.
Peter provides personal counsel to a number of CEOs to help them achieve strategies to align activities with commercial imperatives and has created extensive partnerships and working arrangements with a large number of international trade and NGO organizations.
He has written and spoken widely about communication issues. He is the author of ‘Public Affairs Techniques for Business’ and has lectured on business strategy and communications at a number of universities.
He is currently writing an up-to-date approach to PR and Public Affairs.
He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, a member of the Royal Television Society, and the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a member of the Institute of Welsh Affairs and an Associate of the Institute of Nanotechnology.
